Eleanor R.
Issue:My browser's homepage turned into "Oksearch.org". How can I get rid of it?
Hello,
my google chrome's homepage changed from google.com to some oksearch.org. And it keeps redirecting me to random websites.
I think my PC might be infected with a virus. How can I remove this thing?
Thank you!
By having your browser redirected to a faulty search engine, the browser you use for searching such as Google will be redirected to another search engine in a form of a new tab. With the software installed, each browser that you use will be opened in a new tab or window. The Oksearch.org has a number of purposes, using this search engine is to gather details regarding the customer browsing activities. The other objective is that it presents targeted ad banners in alignment with the collected information. After clicking on Google result users get redirected to oksearch.org which then redirects to some other website.
There are ads that are associated with Oksearch.org hijacker which show ads regarding a particular gadget offered in other areas.
The Threat of Oksearch.org & What It Is
Oksearch.org is a potentially unwanted program and activating it means it will change the device’s default search engine to OK Search. The browser hijacker uses Oksearch.org to prey on victims online. When people got redirected to a site, the user’s browsing experience is not normal as the results change. The virus is affecting Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome as the browsers with the virus.
Getting redirected to other sites with malicious content such as malware is a serious computer infection. With that said, the OK search browser hijacker might not be safe. To know if your device has a PUP installed, run apps that detect malware such as Malwarebytes. You need this automatic process to ensure that the PC is virus-free.
